Sometimes you want a proper getaway, but you still want to retain a bit of luxury. Tents are great, but not exactly relaxing. A forest getaway can be a great in-between - you can enjoy the serenity of the forest but instead of being in a tent, you can enjoy a bit of comfort. There are lots of forest accommodation options throughout the UK, but we thought we'd round up our favourites. Let's get into the article:
Uist Forest Retreat
With views of the Vallay Island and the hills of Harris in the distance, it's hard not to be impressed with the views you'll get from the 3 cabins at Uist Forest Retreat. These impressive roundhouses have a unique design and all of the beautiful timber used to build them is sourced from the UK. The cabins are self-catering so you'll be left to your own devices in the forest, and the silence of the area means you'll never be too far from impressive wildlife including long-eared owls.

Betws-y-Coed is often described as the gateway to Snowdonia National Park, and that's why we think the Alpine Apartments at the old railway station in the village are an ideal place to stay for a forest getaway. The amazing mountains, wildlife, and of course forests of Snowdonia are all on your doorstep, and the 19th-century setting of the Alpine Apartments is the ideal starting point to set off on your wilderness adventure. Despite the age of the building, the apartments ooze modern cool thanks to the keen eye of photographer and environmentalist Jacha Potgieter. Each of the 5 apartments has its own unique style, but rest assured that none of them are boring or bland.

If you want to immerse yourself in the Scottish Highlands then you should absolutely check out the Alladale Lodge in the Alladale Wilderness Reserve. Set against the ancient Caledonian Forest, this is a spacious Victorian manor with 7 double guest rooms. It's a proper Scottish home so if you're looking for an authentic Scottish experience then Alladale Lodge is a great place to stay. Although the house retains much of its Victorian charm, Alladale also has modern facilities such as an in-house sauna and a gym. Spending your entire stay at Alladale Lodge enjoying the house would be delightful enough, but if you're into outdoor pursuits then the activities you can get involved in at the reserve and nearby are really what will make your stay extra special. These include golf, horse-riding, and even dolphin watching at Chanrony Point and the Cromarty Firth.
