Published by Finn Hayden

If you listen to Joe Rogan, or Andrew Huberman, then you'll already know more about the benefits of cold plunges (and sauna cycles). In the UK, the man leading the charge for cold therapy is Wim Hof, who is an expert in mental wellness and cold therapy.

But, if you have taken a second to look into cold plunge pools and ice baths, you'll be hit with waves or marketing articles and confusing options for something that should be quite strait forward.

In this article, we're going to be going on a journey to find the best cold plunge tubs and ice baths in the UK so that you can immerse yourself in the revitalizing power of cold water therapy without paying too much, or missing out of the functionality you need (top tip - don't do the chest freezer method. It's pretty stupid dangerous)

  • Nurecover (Best All-Rounder)
  • Explore (Best On Amazon)
  • Brass Monkey (Best Automatic Ice Bath)
  • The Cold Pod (Best for Newcomers)
  • Ice Tub (Best Custom Plunge Pool)
  • Lumi (Best Affordable Plunge Pool)

Nurecover Pod

The Nurepod is pretty much the best recovery ice pod you can get for under £100. It has way more features than the others in the 'affordable' category and is way more user-friendly.

For a start, the pod is 80cms by 80cms which enables anybody under 6'7 get 100% body coverage. Yet, it is only 3.5kgs and will fit pretty much anywhere you need it.

It has a 5 layers of thermal insulating material which keeps in the cold, and comes with a free lid to seal the heat out. Even cold tap water in the tub is cold enough to feel the benefits of a cold plunge.

The pool is robust, and has an inflatable cushion and a tap to decant the water out when you're done. It is everything you'll need and more.

Cold Plunge

Explore Ice Plunge Pool

This plunge tub is highest rated on Amazon. There are others on the platform that have more exposure in terms of marketing, but we think that the people speak for themselves.

The reason it's 2nd place is down to the fact that it is worth the money you pay for it. Most people looking for an ice bath just want to try it out, and don't want to be spending thousands of pounds on a custom cold plunge.

Other than being slightly cheaper than the leading advertised brand, the Explore fitness ice bath has all the functionality you need at a great price point.

It is the biggest ice bath on Amazon with a 400L capacity (which makes it perfect if you usually can't get your swole-shoulders in other baths), it comes with an all-weather lid, triple layered and insulated fabric (can go from -10 degress up to 50 degrees for a warm bath) and also you get your money back if you're not happy within 30 days.

The reviews for the product are generally quite positive, and it seems as though the customer service is good too.

Brass Monkey Automatic cold water Therapy Tub

Most of the inclusions so far are simple items that you can simply fill with water and ice.

Some of you may be looking for a cold plunge pool that has everything you need built-in. From an internal thermometer, the ability to control the temperature and the ability to self-clean. If this is what you need, then you need to go high-end and custom. These are certainly the best ice baths you can buy but are often extremely expensive.

While some of the options will set you back nearly £10,000, if the ice bath is a way of life, that may be money well spent, and it comes with a 2 year warrenty.

One of the reviews mentioned that they asked for a chair to be fitted into theirs, and it was done for them. So, it is likely that other customisation options are available, and your tub can be unique.

This is likely to be a purchase for more than one person, or a business as some of these tubs will set you back between £1000 and £8000. Honestly, if you (or your friends/family) use a cold plunge almost every day, then this is the tub for you.

There are some considerations: while we have included this on our list of the best cold plunge pools, the Trustpilot reviews do not look great.

So, make you consider your choices.

The Cold Pod

If you're here and you're just looking to get into cold plunges and cold water therapy, and don't fancy spending 10gs on a custom rig, then this may be your best bet.

The Cold Pod is fairly cost-effective and has a reputation for reliability (at least compared to other lower-cost plunge pools). The ice bath has a lid, is layered with 4 robust and non-tear materials as well as having insulating foam. It is lightweight, portable and has a drainage port to make removing the water easy.

It is maybe a good product to use outside, but it is possible to use it inside so long as you have a mop ready - it is easy to spill.

If you just need something cheap, cheerful and great at doing the job, then this ice bath is perfect. Check it out on Amazon.co.uk.
