The best acrylic manufacturers in the UK (our guide)

Published by Finn Hayden

More and more companies are considering acrylic for a range of different purposes - from commercial awards to financial tombstones, and even deal toys. Look at any major award ceremony at the moment and you'll probably notice that more and more of the awards being used are predominately made from acrylic. This isn't just an aesthetic choice - acrylic can be produced very sustainably, making it a great choice for companies who want to stick to their environmental commitments while still creating awards that look stylish and "premium".

Despite it feeling like quite a niche activity, there are a number of acrylic manufacturers based in the UK. Each of these companies has a different approach to the craft, which is what can make choosing a manufacturer for your project slightly overwhelming.

Because I've now helped many businesses to understand the uses for acrylic for a variety of projects, I feel well placed to recommend a few UK-based companies that are fantastic at manufacturing acrylic for a range of purposes. Let's get into it:

Midton

Based in Argyll in Scotland, Midton has an impressive track record of using acrylic to create a variety of beautiful pieces for companies across the UK. Pictured here is a product display that Midton created for Brewdog, a brand that we're very familiar with. Punk IPA is the flagship beer of Brewdog (it's the first beer they created), so the brand wanted a way of displaying a can of the beer which would look really cool - this is where Midton came in. As you can see, the result is classy and definitely cool! You can learn more about Midton here - midton.com

Perspex

You might have already heard of the Perspex brand and not realised that it was the name of the company and not just the name of a material (companies like Hoover and Bandaid), but they're actually one of the most popular acrylic manufacturers in the UK - Perspex is just the name of the cast acrylic created by the brand. Manufactured in Lancashire, you probably see Perspex cast acrylic every day of your life - they make signage, furniture, and screens for a range of different purposes. If you're wanting acrylic that's hard-wearing and practical, Perspex are a great choice. Learn more here - perspex.co.uk

Wrights Plastics

Based in the West Midlands, Wrights Plastics has made acrylic items for some of the biggest brands in the UK, from Tesco to Land Rover. Similar to both Midton and Perspex, Wrights Plastics can use acrylic to create a range of products - from custom awards to Point of Sale displays. A big part of their focus is the creation of acrylic in a sustainable manner, and the company is committed to lowering their carbon footprint in any way possible. Acrylicize

Looking at the Acrylicize website, you'd be forgiven for thinking that they're a brand design company rather than an acrylic manufacturer, but that's just the way that the brand approaches every project they undertake. From their London office, Acrylicize has been involved in some very interesting projects in recent years, including creating public art out of acrylic. If your business has a big idea for a bold art statement, Acrylicize would be a great brand to contact. Learn more here - acrylicize.com
