Winter has arrived – these are the 5 best ginger shots I’m taking daily

Published by Finn Hayden

It's winter, so I've been trying to double down on my supplements to make sure I avoid the sniffles and to keep myself feeling healthy and happy. I've got all the usual things, but I wanted to try something different this year.

For a long time, I've read about the benefits of ginger for your immune system. Although there is some real science which supports the use of ginger to keep your immune system healthy, I've always suspected it was more of an old wives' tale that ginger was extremely good for you. So this winter, I'm putting it to the test.
Although I could cut up ginger root and consume it that way, I've decided it's easier and probably more palatable to take ginger shots. I've now tried about a dozen different brands, and these are the 5 best I've tried. Let's look at what I like about each:

MOJU

I'd imagine many of you will have spotted the MOJU bottles in supermarkets as the brand seems to have done a good job of becoming "the" ginger shot brand. I bought a bunch of bottles of this from my local Sainsbury's and have to admit that I'm very impressed with the product. For starters, each shot of this contains 13.8g of Peruvian ginger root, and it's just nice that MOJU puts this information on the bottles because many brands don't. I also just like how simple and gingery they taste. If I had to buy a ginger shot again, it would be these. Learn more and buy them here - amazon.co.uk

M&S Ginger Defence shots

Regular readers won't be surprised to see an M&S product in this list, because I'm a big fan of the supermarket chain and think the food and drinks from M&S are almost always excellent. These ginger shots from M&S are really simple and are just made from cold pressed apple juice and ginger. These probably tasted the nicest out of all the shots I tried. Zinger shots

What I like about the Zinger ginger shots is that the brand has various flavours to choose from. I've tried the 3 pictured - Fiery, Extra Hot, and Turmeric. I don't mind the spicy taste of ginger, but even I'll admit that the Extra Hot Zinger shot was a shock to me (in a good way). If you want a ginger shot that'll blow the cobwebs out, that's a good one to go for. I like that the ginger used in these shots is organic, as is the apple juice in them. Unrooted Good Energy MIGHTY Ginger & Chilli

With a little bit of Scotch Bonnet Chilli Extract in every bottle, these MIGHTY ginger shots from Unrooted Good Energy definitely gave me a kick. These shots also contain African baobab to help support your immune system, and pineapple juice too which gives them a nice flavour. Learn more and buy it here - sainsburys.co.uk

XITE Focus orange, lion's mane & ginger shots

I take ginger shots first thing in the morning, and what I like about these ginger shots from XITE is that they contain ingredients like Lion's Mane which can help with focus and just help me set up for the day. They taste really nice too because they contain orange juice, so I don't dread taking them first thing in the day. Learn more and buy them here - hollandandbarrett.com
