When it comes to luxury toiletries, Molton Brown is probably one of the best-known brands out there. The products are well made and make a fantastic gift.

But while we admit that the products are great, there is no denying that buying from Molton Brown is seriously expensive. As you can see from their store on Amazon, the shampoo can range between £20 and £30 per 300ml bottle - which is rather pricey!

Luckily, there are a number of alternative brands which still feel luxury, but without the price tag. Let's look at the best Molton Brown alternatives we found:

Baylis & Harding

in terms of the absolute best "like for like" alternative to Molton Brown, Baylis & Harding is probably about as good as it gets. Not only do the products ooze the same sort of quality, but the branding of the products is also very similar and the unique and sometimes quirky ingredients used in the products are also similar. The interesting thing about Baylis & Harding is that products are actually much cheaper than the equivalents from Molton Brown, and we actually think they're just as good - take for instance this Dark Amber & Fig body wash (pictured), which is £3 for a 500ml bottle. The closest product we could find to this within the Molton Brown Body & Bath range would probably be the Neon Amber Bath & Shower Gel, which for a 300ml bottle costs a whopping £25. The Original Source branding and packaging might not have the same quality as Molton Brown or even Baylis & Harding, but we think what's inside the bottle is absolutely worth of comparison. The Original Source products are made with 100% natural ingredients, which is quite remarkable and can't be said about all of the Molton Brown products. You can pick up a 250ml bottle of the Original Source Sea Salt & Samphire Shower Gel for less than £2, which is miles better than the similarly sea-themed Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath & Shower Gel from Molton Brown, which will set you back £25 for a 300ml bottle.

ARRAN Sense of Scotland

We blog extensively about the Scottish Isles, and the beauty of these locations has spawned a number of luxury brands selling products like candles and body washes. ARRAN Sense of Scotland is one such brand, and we think their range of body washes and bath products is a great alternative to the Molton Brown offering. In terms of price ARRAN Sense of Scotland is actually very similar to Molton Brown, with most of their shower gels working out to around £5.50 per 100ml (Molton Brown tends to be around £8 per 100ml so still quite a bit more). The Cowshed product range is similar to the Molton Brown range, with plenty of items for the body, hair and hands. In terms of price, Cowshed is the closest brand to Molton Brown that we've included in this list. If you're happy to spend quite a bit on luxury products for your body, then there's no denying that Molton Brown is a great brand to go for. But if you're looking to save some money, there are some great alternatives to Molton Brown as we've shown in this guide.
