The Aldi Mamia nappies are the best I’ve found for smaller newborns

I recently became a dad, and nappies have become my life. Currently, our little one is working through around 5 nappies per day, but I'm expecting this daily number to double at least.

Our baby is on the smaller size, but she's not tiny - she weighs just over 7lbs, which, according to the Emma's Diary website, puts her right in the average weight class for a newborn. However, she does have quite a little frame considering her weight.
This has made nappy shopping very interesting - I just assumed that any nappies listed as being suitable for newborns would be perfect for her, but that really hasn't been the case.

It has taken a bit of trial and error, but the brand we've found that is ideal for her is the Mamia nappies from Aldi. Like all of the other nappies we tried, these are listed as being suitable for newborns/babies between the weights of 2-5kg, but the Mamia nappies are the smallest of all the brands that we tried.
The image below is a Mamia newborn nappy compared to a Pampers newborn nappy - as you can see, the Mamia nappy is noticeably smaller.

And this image shows a Mamia newborn nappy compared to a Kit & Kin nappy, again you can see that it's quite a bit smaller.

This is perfect for me for a number of reasons - for starters, the Mamia nappies from Aldi are quite a bit cheaper compared to the Pampers newborn nappies and the Kit & Kin newborn nappies. The Mamia nappies can be picked up for around 7p each, whereas the Kit & Kin newborn nappies currently cost 3 times that price on the Boots website.
Secondly, the Mamia newborn nappies have all the same features as the Pampers and the Kit & Kin nappies. There is a strip that runs along the front of the Mamia nappies, and when it turns blue you know that the nappy is full. There is also a cute picture of an animal on the Mamia newborn nappies.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the Aldi alternative, as I so often am. So if you have a newborn who weighs close to 7lbs in weight, you might find that the Mamia newborn nappies are the ideal size for them.
