The Aldi London dry gin just did very well at the World Gin Awards 2026

I've been writing a lot about gin recently, and I've had loads of great feedback from readers who agree with me that a gin and tonic is the perfect summer tipple.

My most popular gin posts of late have been my posts about gin from supermarkets, with both the Lidl post and the Aldi posts being especially popular. It seems that, just like me, there are plenty of you out there who want to enjoy a quality gin without paying the premium price.
I mentioned in these posts that I think Aldi just slightly pips Lidl when it comes to great gin, and in light of recent news, that has never been more true.
The 2026 World Gin Awards took place recently, and it was Aldi that swept up (again!). The Haysmith's London dry gin from Aldi just won the prestigious 'Country Winner' award for 2026, a seriously impressive feat. Judges praised the gin for the creamy and fresh tasting notes, as well as the sweetness that lingers.

What's incredibly impressive about this is that a 70cl bottle of this gin costs just £16.49, less than half the price of most premium gins on the market. I've now idea how Aldi do it, but they keep producing amazing gins at unbelievably cheap prices.

This follows on from Aldi's Comhla gin picking up a Gold medal at the World Gin Awards last year.
If you've tried the Haysmith's London Dry gin from Aldi, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
