The Aldi Comhla gin is (unsurprisingly) excellent

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of many Aldi products - I frequently rave about the high protein products at Aldi, but I've also enjoyed many of the wines sold by the supermarket too.
When I heard that the Comhla gin at Aldi had won multiple awards and was delighting shoppers, I wasn't surprised at all. But I still wanted to try it for myself to see what all the fuss was about.
In terms of gin, it's what I would describe as pretty straightforward - it's a London Dry gin, meaning it has a strong juniper taste and is pretty simple in terms of botanicals and flavour notes, with coriander and citrus.
But the simplicity of the gin is also what makes it so versatile - the Comhla gin tastes great straight, but it's also lovely with tonic, and in cocktails.
The gin won a Gold Award at the World Gin Awards in 2025, which is extremely impressive as those awards are very prestigious.
It's produced in small batches at the Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh, which is also where Pickering's Gin is produced.
Perhaps what's most impressive about the Aldi Comhla gin is the price - £20 for a 700ml bottle is basically half the price of most other gins on the market. But I wouldn't expect anything less from Aldi.
