Properly Thoughtful Running Gifts, for Runners! (From Runners)

As one of those people who picked up the running bug during COVID, I can now officially tell people I am a runner.

I've done 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and still run over 15kms on an average day. That makes me uniquely qualified to talk about running gifts.

Running's popularity has increase by over 65% globally since 2021 and between 2024 and 2025, there was an increase of over 9%. Just stand in a park on a nice day and you'll see this phenomenon in real time.

If you're here, it's likely that you're looking for a running gift, that is for a loved one, friend or even yourself.

Whoever you're buying for, I think I can help give you some direction. Maybe fill your head with ideas or help you find the perfect gift.

Let's take a little job into some running gift ideas that I think make the world of difference.

Warming Muscle Balm

It may not be the most obvious gift for a runner, but trust me, any runner who gets this will be thrilled.

It is a gift and a curse, but running long distances makes you feel great - but also pretty achey. The little niggles in knees, hips, shoulders and ancles make up a world of pain.

This warming balm helps to increase boodflow, reduces inflammation and encourages circulation. It is a great gift to help sooth our all the niggles from a big run.

For £30, it is on the expensive side for a short term gift, but one your running friend will be suitably thankful for. You're not gifting your running friend a balm - you're gifting recovery and relief!

Shokz OpenMove earphones.

Headphones while running make the longer runs more enjoyable (a great hour long podcast is a wonderful running companion) but they aren't great for busy roads or city running. They are actively dangerous.

But, what if you want to listen to music or an audiobook while running, yet, being able to hear the world around you?

This is why bone conduction eaphones are the ideal gift for runners. They are safe, and sound great.

We've already written a full review about Shokz OpenMove earpones. Check out our thoughts. They may be a great consideration for a gift!

Green Powder & Hydration pack

As running is becoming trendy, so is running nutrition. As soon as you start to rack up the miles your body starts to need some serious care.

You may find your friend is always hungry. That is because running sucks up so much energy. On average 100kal per mile.

Alongside this, a runners body will be using significantly more minerals and vitamins which could lead them into a deficiency. It's very important that runners are consuming the right complex of multivitamins.

The best multivitamin category on the market is green powders. We've checked out some of the best green powders in the UK, so check them out.

Garmin Forerunner

Garmin is by far the most popular adventure watch brand. Their Forerunner range is specifically designed for runners, and are some of the best you can buy.

Garmin's come with a range of in-built features that help your running friend train properly, track their progress (and distances) while having a handy device to keep an eye on the time and any important notifications.

Prices for these watches can vary, but you can pick up a great entry level watch for just over £100.

The watch here in the photo is my Garmin 955. It is a great watch to have for training, pacing and life in general.

Salomon Running Vest

When I first saw running vests coming into fashion, I hated them too. But I have come to understand how useful they can be.

Given that they are both a fashion accessory and a useful bit of kit, you need your running vest to be a mixture of both - right?

The Salomon running vest is both stylish and robust enough to deal with even the most adventurous of runners. It makes the perfect gift. Although, running vests split the running community, so it may be a gift idea that comes with some risk of never being worn!

Rat Race Socks

Thats right - a running gifts article is suggesting socks as a gift. If this were a Christmas gift run down I would completely understand if you closed the page in outright disgust.

But, for a runner, socks are the most important thing you can buy. A comfy, blisterproof, reliable pair of socks is a gift made in running heaven.

Would you like to know who we think makes the best gifting socks? Rat Race. They cater to ultramarathon runners, and have ultra-soft merino wool socks.

You can check out their website for their full range of socks, but also the other running gear they have on their store.

A good pair of running shoes.

Let's be honest - if there is anything you need as a runner, it's going to be shoes. A great pair of shoes is always a great gift for a runner.

The one thing that you should consider, is shoes are individual. Everybody has their own taste. Some people like soft shoes, fast shoes, somewhere in the middle. So, it may be a great idea to take your runner to the shop and buy the shoes for them.

Look, it isn't a great surprise, but with running, making sure they get the kit they actually want is always the preferable option.

Don't skimp either - expect to be paying north of £150.
