Revolution Race – Our Full Review | Norwind & GP Trousers, Cyclone Jacket & More

It’s become clear, Revolution Race have the best hiking and walking trousers in the UK. Lots of people say it, and we agree.

The brand has become extremely popular here, with celebrities like Billy Billingham repping their equipment (and jumpers) on TV.

Who are RVRC?

Revolution Race (RVRC) are an outdoor clothing and equipment brand from Sweeden. They launched the brand in 2014 with the mission to produce exceptionally high-quality Swedish and outdoor clothing, without the huge price tag. They were one fo the first to leverage the internet, and passed on the savings they saw to us, the customer.

They’ve not established themselves as on of the leading brands for outdoor clothing, globally. They first made waves with their Norwind trousers, but now sell almost everything you need to enjoy the great outdoors.

We’ve purchased plenty from them over the years, and we’d like to write a full review- what we like and dislike.

What we Like

Norwind, GP PRO & Rambler Trousers

This is where RVRC started, and this is where they continue to shine. The trousers that they produce are always reliable, high quality, comfortable and a great fit. Each pair are well put together and thought out.

Over the years, it seems that RVRC had some issues with the lower legs being too tight, and many customers thought the sizing was a problem. This, we can agree on; however, they seem to have made changes to the design that open out the bottom of the legs and make them a better fit.

We’ve purchased the Norwind, GP PRO and Rambler trousers, and each is as good as the next. If you need hiking trousers, choose RVRC.

Cyclone Jacket

The cyclone jacket has been a staple of my outdoor gear for rainy weather. It’s a thinner waterproof jacket that is designed for some of the most extreme weather we get in the UK. The jackets are for climbing, and offer great durability, are completely waterproof and have handy pockets. The quality is great.

The only little dislike is that the hood is massive. It’s fine for the winter when you wear a hat, but not so great during summer rain. The hood does have ties to tighten the face, but that makes it look weird.

Jumpers

I have a few Revolution Race jumpers; the Sherpa is the one I wear as a staple. The other is a zip-up fleece, which is a fantastic baselayer.

Both started out as some of the best jumpers I’ve owned. The Sherpa specifically was warm, cozy, fits really well and looks great. Maybe I wear my jumpers harshly, but over a few months, I found the fleece material started to wear and become stretched. It didn’t hug as well and started to feel loose. The same happened with the fleece jumper.

I have other jumpers from Craghoppers that are now worn, but still great to wear. The quality of these jumpers are not as good as the trousers, but we love them non-the-less.

What we dislike

Shipping

The shipping options are not great for customers in the UK. It seems that the clothes come directly from Sweden, but are shipped via Amsterdam (usually, to do with EU customs rules). Oftentimes, the shipping can be very slow and take over 10 days to arrive.

It’s not a huge gripe, but given that the company are so well established in the UK, it would be nice for them to have a UK hub which will bring the delivery times down to 2 or 3 days. That said, the equipment is often worth the wait.

Down jacket

Recently, I asked a friend how he was getting on with a down jacket he purchased. He told me that he accidentally ripped it within 2 weeks of owning it. The little rip exposed the inside of the jacket lining.

Firstly, he was disappointed by how easily the jacket ripped, but also that the inside was not down material, but a cheap layering of white stuffing. The quality of this particular product was certainly not up to scratch.

He did say, for the price, it was not a huge loss.

Final thoughts.

Overall, Revolution Race are a great company, and their products are fantastic for the most part. There is a chance that you can pick up products that are not great, but it seems that the company respond to feedback and constantly improves their offering.

We highly reccommend the trousers, jumpers and specialist products they sell. The generic clothes like down jackets, t-shirts and the belts are pretty low quality, and suggest not to get them at full price.
