High protein coffee drinks have landed at Starbucks

Starbucks protein drinks

As the trend of increasing the protein content of everything continues, I was quite surprised to spot these high protein drinks available to buy from Starbucks. Apparently, they were launched back in July, but this is the first time I've seen them out in the wild. Each 330ml bottle contains 20g of protein, and they're also low in fat at just 1.1g per 100g. Plus, they contain no added sugar.

These protein drinks from Starbucks are available in 2 flavours - chocolate mocha and caffe latte, and they're both made with coffee (as you'd expect), allowing you to get a protein boost alongside your caffeine boost.

Each of these small bottles contains just over 170 calories, which is quite impressive. The Lidl protein shakes contain over 200 calories per bottle (and those are actually slightly smaller than the Starbucks protein drinks)

The main downside is that I saw them priced at £3.60 each, which seems pretty expensive to me, especially considering you can buy protein shakes from Lidl with a higher protein content for not much more than £1.

Despite the hefty price tag, I'll probably swap my usual coffee for one of these next week!
