Are there any electric bikes under £500? And which are the best?

This is a question we see asked a lot, on forums (like Reddit), and online generally. Today, in the summer of 2025, it is very difficult to find a fully functional electric bike that is under £500. There are a few, but we're not sure that we can recommend them with all confidence.

To put this question into perspective, it is fairly difficult to find a good quality push bike for under £500 these days, never mind an electric bike which comes with added production costs, a battery, fortified frame construction and more durable tires.

With Electric bikes regularly hitting speeds of 20-25km/h, it's fair to say that buying cheap could cost you your life, so, the extra expensive could save you more than a few quid. It's also worth taking a second to note that electric bikes are regularly stolen - and some of the most stolen bikes in the UK.

Is it possible to find an electric bike for under £500? Sure. Should you buy one? maybe.

We've come up with a few ideas for cheaper electric bikes, that are still reliable.

Fiido D3 Pro Mini Electric Bike (£545)

At the time of writing this, the Fiido Pro Mini Electric Bike is on offer at £363. That puts it well below £500, but you're still getting a bike that looks and feels reliable.

There is plenty to like about this bike, and its fold-up design makes it easy to pack up and store securely.

With a silent 250W battery, 80km range and comfortable seat, this bike is ideal for commuting or city riding.

Eleglide Electric Bike, M1 Plus  (£599)

On this day, this bike is listed with a 12% discount that brings it down to £529. So, you may or may not be lucky enough to enjoy this offer.

I have to be honest here, I am not too sure about this one. It looks great, the reviews on Amazon also appear largely positive, and the price tage is closer to £500 than any other similar electric bike.

This is not our first choice, but if you MUST buy an electric bike for roughly £500, you could do worse.

Find it on amazon UK here.

Infusion Monochrome   (£549).

While this bike looks the part, it seems that it falls apart. But, it is still one of the best ebikes that you can find for around £500.

The main issue it seems witht he Infusion is the battery is just simply not as reliable as it should be. The company claim that the battery can go further than 30kms, but we've seen regular comments about this bike regularly failing to meet that distance.

Here is a review of the e-bike on YouTube.

We're including this bike because it is available for roughly £500. This is the perfect example of buying a cheap electric bike, may be a mistake in the long run.

Momentum Voya E+ (£999)

Right, you may have already noticed that this is not a £500 Electric bike, it's almost double the price - but it's an example of a great, reliable electric bike at a reasonable price. For a good bike, you should expect to pay around this price point.

The Voya E+ is loaded with a mighty 1.7kg hub motor  10 speed drive chain that can propell this bike up to 25km/h.

The bike battery charges to 80% in two hours and can cover a distance of between 25 and 45 miles.

It's lighter than you'd expect, more agile too, and can be customised to make it more comfy - have better storage, and lighting.

If you ask us, it's worth the extra £500.

Final Thoughts

This page is not an exhaustive list, but you're unlikely to find an article like this that isn't trying to sell you should. There are few electric bikes under £500, and if you do manage to find them, you should take great care in your research.

We'd suggest that £500 is way too cheap for a bike, and would suggest upping your budget to be safe - otherwise, you may end up needing to buy a new bike sooner than expected, or potentially put your own health at risk.
