Cannaray CBD muscle balm – Our full honest review of this popular CBD product

Cannaray CBD muscle balm - Our full honest review

Published by Finn Hayden

We've been experimenting a lot with CBD over the past couple of years, and we've had mixed results - we've now tried CBD drinks, oils, gummies, creams/balms, and more.

Out of all of these products, it's the CBD balms and creams that we've kept returning to. Something about applying CBD topically really seems to work for us, maybe because we tend to use CBD for muscle aches and pains rather than for sleep or anything like that.

We've been using the Cannaray CBD muscle balm for quite a while now, so we thought it would be useful to publish a full review of this product to give you our honest thoughts on it. Let's get into the review:

Quick thoughts - we really like the feel and the price of the Cannaray CBD muscle balm, but at 250mg of CBD per jar we think it's a bit too weak to have any significant effect.

Now let's get into the detailed review:

What's in the Cannaray CBD Muscle Balm?

The first thing we should look at is the amount of CBD in this muscle balm, because that's what most people will be using it for. Each jar contains 250mg of CBD, which is actually quite a high dosage given that it's a 60ml jar. If you're using about half a teaspoon at a time, so around 2.5ml, you're getting around 12mg of CBD. This is a safe amount to be applying to your skin, particularly given that CBD won't be as effectively absorbed via the skin compared to consuming a CBD oil or CBD gummies.

Alongside the CBD, the balm is mostly made from beeswax and Olea Europea husk oil. Both of these ingredients are very safe for all skin types.

The scent is lovely and is described as 'Citrus' on the jar, but we get more of a honey smell from it, which might come from the beeswax.

What does the Cannaray CBD muscle balm feel like on the skin?

There is a definite difference between a balm and a cream, so it's worth noting that this product is a lot thicker than many of the CBD creams we've tried. But we don't think this is a bad thing - because it's supposed to be used to help with muscle ache, the thicker texture of this balm really allows you to massage it in to your skin. So we don't have a problem with the consistency, but we could imagine that some people would as it can feel a bit strange at first.

We bought this 60ml jar of Cannaray CBD muscle balm for about £22, which seemed like a pretty fair price to us, especially when compared to CBD muscle balms from other brands. For example, the Grass & Co. EASE CBD Muscle Balm contains 300mg of CBD in a 60ml jar (so basically the same as Cannaray) and costs almost £40 on the Holland and Barrett website!

Final thoughts

Overall we'd say that of all the CBD muscle balms we tried, the Cannaray CBD muscle balm was one of our favourites. It's not too expensive and feels nice on the skin. But at 250mg of CBD per jar, we still think it's a bit too low in CBD to feel any significant benefits.
