Candles, melts & more – ’tis the season for scents

Nothing sets the mood at Christmas quite like a Winter-y, relaxing scent. There is an overwhelming choice of candles, melts & more to choose from in the UK, so we thought it would be useful to round up our favourites. Let's get into it:

Rock That Scent - best winter wax melts

If you're serious about scents then you no doubt have a wax melt set-up, and we're big fans of the wax melt range from Rock That Scent. These are soy wax melts made in small batches by hand and the scents are from high-quality fragrance oils & essential oils. Popular Christmas-y scents include Sweater Weather (including magnolia blossom & vanilla pods), O' Christmas tree (cedar, pine & musk) and Mince pie and Brandy (raisins, figs, sultanas, and apples). Does it get more Christmas-y than this? We're also really happy to see that planet-friendly packaging is used for this entire range.

Algarve Candle Company- best forĀ  wooden wick Christmas crackle

If you've never tried a wooden wick candle before, then Christmas is the time to give them a shot. As they burn they make a very slight crackling sound, which sounds like an open fire and creates a real sense of relaxation. There are lots of candle brands out there selling wooden wick candles but our favourite is The Algarve Candle Company, a mother/daughter team who have mastered the art of the wooden wick candles. Their range include candles with 70 hour burn times, so they're ideal for those festive days when you spend the whole day in the house.

Sunday Luxe- best for Sunday simplicity

Sometimes all you need is a simple candle that will help you feel relaxed and chilled - this is why we love the candle range from Sunday Luxe. They sell 2 candles, both of which are made from 100% eco soy wax and will give you a 45 hour burn time. The scents that you get from these candles are varied but all compliment each other, and notes include bergamot, eucalyptus, iris wood and parma violets. These candles aren't showstoppers that'll overwhelm a room with a scent, they're discreet, thoughtful additions to the room that will surround you with a pleasant and consistent scent. Perfect for those lazy Sunday vibes, or maybe a lazy Boxing Day.
