Beurer HD75 Electric Blanket – my honest review after a month of use

It's officially winter, and the UK is absolutely freezing at the moment. For me, this is a double-edged sword - on the one hand, I love the postcard-worthy landscapes and digging out my jumpers from the back of the wardrobe. On the other hand, I simply don't enjoy being cold.

Last winter, I bought myself a Cosi Home Heated Throw from Amazon, and I thought it was pretty great. I'm still using this throw, but I wanted to get myself a different heated blanket this year to see how it compares (and so that me and my wife get one each).
I noticed that the Beurer HD75 Electric Blanket (which sounds far less cosy than the Cosi Home Heated Throw) was getting very popular on Amazon, so I decided to buy myself one to try and review. I've now been using it for a few weeks and I'm ready to share my thoughts, let's get into it:

What is the Beurer HD75 Electric Blanket made from?

This blanket is made from fleece fibre, which is typically what most electric blankets are made from. I find it really comfortable and it's really soft too.

The fleece fibre is certified to the Oeko-Tex 100 standard. If you're not aware, the Oeko-Tex 100 standard tests for harmful materials in products, so it's very reassuring to have this certification on this electric blanket, especially given how much time I've spent with it covered over me. This should also be reassuring for people who have sensitive skin.

What settings does the Beurer HD75 Electric Blanket?

You only get 6 temperature settings with the Beurer HD75 Electric Blanket, which is 3 fewer than you get with the Cosi Home Heated Throw. I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I'm using my heated blankets I always put them at the top setting, and I'd say the '6' top setting on the Beurer HD75 electric blanket wasn't quite as warm as the '9' top setting on the Cosi Home heated throw.

Cost

I paid £41 for my Beurer HD75 electric blanket, which is 180 x 130 cm, and I paid £45 for my Cosi Home Heated Throw, which is 160x130cm. So they're very similarly priced and there isn't much to separate these electric blankets in terms of upfront cost.
The Cosi Home heated throw costs about 3p per hour, and I found that the Beurer HD75 blanket cost about the same.

Anything else to mention?

The blanket comes with something called the BSS electronic sensor, which prevents overheating on its surface, automatically shutting down in the event of failure. This is a big deal, because I actually didn't realise but when I was doing some research for this article, I found a number of heated blankets which had issues with failure.

Here's another thing that I haven't seen any other review mention - the power cable is 2.5m long, which is very useful if you don't have sockets all over your home (like I don't). The Cosi Home Heated Throw has a pretty long cable at around 2m long but I think this extra length is useful.

So overall I'd say that there's not much to separate the 2 electric blankets I've tried, but I'd probably give the edge to the Beurer HD75. It's a little bit bigger than the Cosi Home heated throw, has a slightly longer cable (which is actually a big deal), and although it doesn't get as warm as the Cosi Home heated throw, I think overall it's comfier.

But that's just my thoughts, if you've tried this electric blanket then please let me know your thoughts in the comments!
