5 yoghurts for kids that little ones will love

Published by Finn Hayden

Yoghurt is a delicious snack which is great to eat at any time of the day, and they're often loved by kids. But many yoghurts can be packed with sugar and calories, so you have to be careful with what yoghurt you give to your kids, especially the flavoured varieties.

But that doesn't mean that the yoghurt you give your kids to eat should be boring - plain yoghurts can be really sour and we imagine that most kids won't enjoy a really tangy plain Greek yoghurt. Luckily, there are lots of yoghurts for kids out there which manage to be both healthy and tasty. We thought it would be useful to round up the best you can buy, let's get into it:

Little Yeos

We're huge fans of the Yeo Valley yoghurts, which are all organic and absolutely delicious (and healthy). So we were delighted to see that Yeo Valley has produced a range of yoghurts for kids. Not only are these much smaller than the normal Yeo Valley yoghurts, but they're also available in flavours designed for kids like Pear & Apple and Strawberry & Raspberry. You can also buy no added sugar versions of Little Yeos yoghurts which are sweetened with concentrated fruit juice. This means that these yoghurts only contain naturally occurring sugars and they're much lower in sugar than the standard Yeo Valley yoghurts. For example, the normal Strawberry Yeo Valley yoghurt contains 10.7g of sugar per 100g, whereas the Strawberry & Raspberry Little Yeos yoghurt contains just 8.6g of sugar per 100g, more than 2g less. Suckies by The Collective

The Collective is another brand which makes great yoghurts for everyone but also has a delicious range of yoghurts for kids. These are called Suckies because the yoghurt comes in little pouches rather than pots, which makes them extra fun for kids and perfect for lunchboxes. The yoghurt is made using British whole milk yoghurt and real fruit, but it's really smooth and doesn't contain any pips or bits of fruit. They also contain no added sugar and the only sugars found in it are naturally occurring from the milk and the fruit. Flavours include Raspberry & Banana, learn more and buy them here - tesco.com

Actimel Kids

We're big fans of Actimel and think it's one of the best probiotic yoghurt drinks that you can buy, so it's great to see that there is a version of this yoghurt for kids. The main difference between the Actimel for kids and the standard Actimel is the amount of sugar - for example, the standard Strawberry Actimel contains 12g of sugar per 100g, whereas the Strawberry & Banana Actimel contains just 8.5g of sugar per 100g. Despite containing less sugar, these Actimel for kids yoghurts are full of fruity flavour and really tasty, which is another reason why they're so great for kids. Petits Filous

Petits Filous is a yoghurt brand which has been around for years, and with good reason - it's really great for kids. These yoghurts are made using all natural ingredients and without the use of any artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. They're also very smooth, so any really fussy kids will be happy that these yoghurts are free from any pips or fruit bits. On top of this, all of the yoghurts within the Petits Filous range contain added Vitamin D, so they're a great source of this crucial vitamin for children. Peppa Pig yoghurts

We have to admit that when we saw the Peppa Pig yoghurts in the fridge aisle of our local Tesco, we were a little unsure if they'd be any good. But having properly looked at these yoghurts, we're impressed - made with added Vitamin D, these yoghurts are not just very tasty, but they're also packed with fruit. They also contain absolutely no added preservatives or artificial colours and no fruit bits either, so they're great for fussy kids. Learn more and buy them here - sainsburys.co.uk
