The best vegan hot chocolate we’ve bought & sipped (top 6)

Published by Finn Hayden

Our guide about low calorie hot chocolate does really well, but after publishing it we had quite a bit of feedback from vegans who felt that we'd left them out a little bit. In fact, some panicked vegans even thought that we couldn't find any vegan hot chocolate to include in that guide, and the truth is that when we published that guide, we did struggle to find vegan hot chocolate.

But fast forward just a few months, and we're starting to see vegan hot chocolate pop up everywhere. In fact, we're seeing so much of it that we thought it would be useful to publish a guide of the best vegan hot chocolate that we've bought and tried, let's get into it:

Vegan Hot Chocolate kit by Honeywell Bakes

If you're looking for a really luxurious vegan hot chocolate then this Vegan Hot Chocolate Kit from Honeywell Bakes is a great option - it's a kit which gives you everything you need to make a really tasty Biscoff hot chocolate. This includes fair trade ground Belgian chocolate, vegan marshmallows (see some of our favourite vegan marshmallows here), Biscoff crumb, Biscoff sauce, fairly traded Belgian chocolate chips, and of course, a Biscoff biscuit. The end result is a really rich and tasty vegan hot chocolate, plus you get a stoneware mug with the kit. And on top of all of this, they have donated more than £50,000 to support the excellent Farm Africa charity, an organisation which helps farmers in East Africa to grow and sell more, helping to reduce poverty in the area. Montezuma's Hot Chocolate

We've included the Montezuma's brand in a few of our guides recently, including our gluten free chocolate guide, because the brand makes excellent chocolate, all of which is vegan. But until we started researching for this guide, we didn't realise that the brand made a vegan hot chocolate, and we certainly didn't realise how delicious it was. Made using 100% organic dark chocolate, the flavour is rich and tastes very luxurious. Learn more and buy it here - waitrose.com

Divine smooth hot chocolate

The Divine brand doesn't exclusively make vegan chocolate, so you might be a bit surprised to see them pop up in this list. But if you look carefully at the image of the Divine hot chocolate you'll spot a little The Vegan Society logo on the front of the tub. Made using the finest cocoa and Fairtrade ingredients, you can mix this with dairy-free milk such as oat milk and immediately have a lovely, creamy hot chocolate. Vego hazelnut melts

We're seeing products from the Vego brand pop up all over the place at the moment, and given how good they are we're not surprised. We recently reviewed the great vegan white chocolate from this brand and the lovely vegan chocolate spread, and we're pleased to say that the vegan hot chocolate from Vego is just as good. These are interesting because they're little buttons of chocolate which you can drop into a mug of warm plant-based milk for an instant vegan hot chocolate. We love the flavour and it definitely reminded us of Nutella. Learn more and buy it here - ethicalsuperstore.com

Sweet Revolution Organic Instant Hot Chocolate

As well as being totally vegan and gluten free, what's really impressive about this vegan hot chocolate is that it contains zero refined sugar, yet still manages to taste great. Made using the best Criollo cacao from the rainforests of Peru, it's a seriously luxurious hot chocolate and we love it. It's made using coconut milk powder and a touch of raw crystallised coconut nectar to give it some sweetness, plus all the ingredients are organic. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

Galaxy vegan hot chocolate

The standard variety of hot chocolate from Galaxy is very popular, so we were delighted to see that a vegan version has been released. Made using coconut oil and soya protein, it might not be quite as natural or organic as some of the other options we've included in this list, but we're not ashamed to admit that it was definitely one of the best-tasting hot chocolates that we tried for this guide. OMV! Asda salted caramel hot chocolate

At this point, we're getting bored of raving about the OMV! vegan range from Asda - the vegan marshmallows are amazing, and so is the vegan pesto, but this vegan hot chocolate might be the best thing we've tried from the range yet. With a salted caramel flavour, it doesn't taste like a vegan product at all (and we mean that in a good way). You can only buy it in Asda, and it's brand new so the only place to get it at the moment is in-store.

Hopefully this guide proves that there is loads of delicious vegan hot chocolate out there, and hopefully, this guide helps you find one to enjoy. If you have any other suggestions for us, let us know in the comments.
