Delicious spreadable butter that’ll take your bread up a level (5 we love)

Published by Finn Hayden

We've all been there - you buy a lovely block of butter only for it to be terrible for spreading on bread or whatever else we might like to spread it on.

Luckily, there are lots of excellent spreadable butter products out there which are great for spreading but still taste great. We thought it would be useful to round up the best spreadable butter that you can buy in the UK, let's get into it:

President

The President Spreadable butter is the only spreadable butter that we could find which has actually won a 'Great Taste' award, which the brand won for this product back in 2019. This butter is actually softened with cream, which not only helps it to spread more easily but also adds a lovely creaminess to the taste. It's a French butter which is made from pasteurised cow’s milk, and it has a very rich flavour and a lovely smooth texture. Learn more and buy it here - sainsburys.co.uk

Yeo Valley Buttery & Spreadable

We've raved about the Yeo Valley brand numerous times across our guides, with the long life milk from the brand particularly impressing us. Yeo Valley also makes butter, and the spreadable butter from Yeo Valley is excellent - it's made from 100% British milk, and only has a small pinch of salt. It's also made using rapeseed oil, which helps to make it spreadable. Everything in the tub is 100% organic and it's very delicious, learn more and buy it here - tesco.com

Lurpak

Lurpak needs no introduction as it's probably the most popular butter brand in the UK. What really impresses us about the spreadable butter from Lurpak is that it still manages to maintain the quality texture and taste that you get from a standard block of Lurpak butter. It's made from 100% fresh milk and a small amount of rapeseed oil to make it perfect for spreading. Learn more and buy it here - ocado.com

Many Irish people will maintain that the best butter you can is from Kerrygold, and you'll actually find Kerrygold butter stocked in a number of places up and down the UK. The spreadable butter from Kerrygold is made from the milk of Irish grass-fed cows, and the butter is mixed with a small amount of rapeseed oil. Learn more and buy it here - ocado.com

Anchor

Anchor is another of the biggest butter brands that you'll find in the UK, and we're really impressed by the spreadable butter from this brand. It's made in the UK using 100% British butter, and it's perfect for spreading over bread or for use in baking and cooking. The Anchor butter is blended with rapeseed oil to create a butter which glides over just about anything. It contains no artificial colourings or preservatives and is just a very simple good product.
