The best soda water you can buy in the UK (top 6)
Many popular cocktail recipes will often ask for soda water as an ingredient (or club soda, which is the same thing), which is actually quite hard to find here in the UK. People often think that sparkling water can be used as a replacement for soda water, but there are some key differences between the 2 drinks which make soda water much better suited for things like cocktails. For example, sparkling water tends to have a much stronger and more distinctive taste compared to soda water, which can make it a bit too overpowering to use as a mixer in a cocktail. Soda water still has a taste, but it tends to be much more subtle, even in the flavoured varieties.
We wanted to round up the best soda water that you can buy in the UK, for use as both a mixer or to enjoy straight. Let's get into it:
Schweppes soda water
In terms of unflavoured soda water that you can readily buy in the UK, we definitely think that Schweppes makes one of the best that we've tried. Just like all of the drinks that Schweppes makes, this soda water is perfect as a mixer, both for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We love pairing this soda water with lime cordial to make the perfect soda and lime for when we want a fancier drink in the house. Learn more and buy it here - tesco.com

M&S soda water
We weren't surprised to find an excellent soda water stocked in M&S, but we were surprised by the price - we picked up this 1 litre bottle for 60p, which was on offer but still very cheap. In terms of the soda water itself, it was crisp and worked perfectly with the lime cordial that we paired it with. Learn more and buy them here - ocado.com

Soda Water by Sainsbury's
We love a lot of the own-brand food and drinks products from Sainsbury's, and we think that this supermarket produces one of the best soda waters that you can buy. It costs just 75p per litre which is quite a bit cheaper than many of the other options we've included in this list, but we still feel like this is a really quality product. Asda soda water
Similar to Sainsbury's, Asda is an excellent supermarket when it comes to own-brand food and drinks, and the soda water from Asda is excellent as a no-nonsense option for mixing with cocktails and other drinks. This was actually the cheapest soda water we found at just 70p per litre, which is really impressive given how good it is. Learn more and buy it here - groceries.asda.com

The London Essence Co Pink Grapefruit soda
So far we've included unflavoured soda water in this guide, but if you're looking for something a bit more interesting then the Pink Grapefruit soda water from The London Essence Co is a great option. This just has a hint of sweetness which makes it ideal for vodka or rum cocktails, but it can even be consumed straight. It also contains less than 20 calories per 100ml, so you drink it without feeling too guilty. We love the flavour, learn more and buy it here - waitrose.com

Double Dutch pink grapefruit
Another great flavoured option is this Pink Grapefruit soda water from the Double Dutch brand. This product is listed as a mixer by the team at Double Dutch and we definitely agree that it's best suited for use as a mixer - the grapefruit flavour is rich and it pairs perfectly with white spirits such as Tequila and Mezcal. It's only 19 calories per 100ml, learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

Fever-Tree raspberry & orange blossom soda water
Fever-Tree is one of the biggest mixer brands in the UK, but is probably best known for producing an excellent range of tonic water, but the brand also produces excellent soda water too. We tried the Raspberry & Orange Blossom soda water from the brand (pictured) and absolutely loved the flavour - made using spring water blended with Moroccan orange blossom and Scottish raspberries, this soda water really has a premium taste and is great on its own or as a mixer. If you are going to use it as a mixer, the team at Fever-Tree recommends mixing it with vodka or pink gin. Learn more and buy it here - sainsburys.co.uk
