Our eyesight might be the most important sense we have - it allows us to see our loved ones and to see the world around us. Despite how important our eyesight is, many of us don't do enough to keep it healthy and to protect it. Regular visits to the opticians can ensure that the health of your eyes is maintained and that you're given the right equipment to improve and even heal your eyesight.

There are lots of options when it comes to opticians, so we thought it would be useful to round up the best opticians you can use in the UK. Let's get into it:

Vision Express

If you're looking for a high street opticians with a great in-store experience, then we don't think you can do much better than Vision Express - as we mentioned in our comparison between Vision Express and Specsavers, we've always found the staff at the Vision Express stores to be extremely friendly and knowledgable. But it's not just the in-store experience which makes Vision Express such a great opticians to visit, as you'll find more than 1000 different glasses to choose from on the Vision Express website.

If you're shopping for kids then Vision Express is also excellent for this, not just in-store but also online, where you'll find an entire section dedicated to children's glasses.

Specsavers

We ultimately chose Vision Express over Specsavers in our comparison guide, but there is one category in which Specsavers really excels, and that's price. If you're looking for an affordable pair of glasses or sunglasses, then we'd probably say that Specsavers should be your first port of call out of all of the UK high street opticians. You'll not only find affordable glasses and sunglasses at Specsavers, but you'll also find lots of styles and designs for men, women, and kids. This includes big-name brands like Tommy Hilfiger, which you'll find both in-store and online. Specsavers also employs qualified optometrists and opticians who can give full eye examinations and plenty of professional advice on eye health. Boots Opticians

Boots is a well-known pharmacist, and many people don't realise that Boots also has an opticians department - this is not at every store, but it's almost always found at the larger Boot stores. And despite not being the main offering from Boots, we're actually really impressed with the Boots opticians offering.
There are 550 Boots Opticians practices up and down the UK, and many people don’t realise that so many are out there.

Boots Opticians is especially great for over 60s and students - if you’re over the age of 60 or a student then you can save 10% on your first pair of glasses or on prescription sunglasses, plus you’ll get every additional pair of glasses for half price. We’re also really impressed with the wide choice of styles that the glasses from Boots Opticians are available in, as you’ve got hundreds of different styles to choose from both in store and online. You’ll also find lots of big brands at Boots Opticians, such as Hugo Boss and Ted Baker. And impressively, Boots Opticians is sitting with a near perfect rating of 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from almost 4000 reviews. Learn more about Boots Opticians here - boots.com/opticians

And although Optical Express is often thought of as a place just for laser eye surgery, you’ll actually find a great selection of glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses at Optical Express. You can't buy glasses from Optical Express online, but you'll find lots of different glasses to choose from in-store, as well as an impressive selection of contact lenses which includes own-brand lenses from Optical Express.
