The best natural lip balm you can buy in the UK (top 5)

When the weather gets colder, so many parts of our body can react strangely. Our hair gets dry, and our skin can get flaky, but it's often our lips which are the worst affected. The lips need to stay moisturised in cold weather because the cold air can make them really dehydrated, but licking your lips will only cause cracking. So this is where lip balms are really useful - they can help to keep the moisture in your lips regardless of how cold it gets. The problem with popular lip balms from companies like Vaseline is that although they're effective, they're often full of artificial ingredients which don't agree with some people who have sensitive skin. Luckily, there are lots of excellent natural lip balms out there which you can buy, and we thought it would be useful to round up the best we've found and tried. Let's get into it:

Natruline Vegan by Beauty Kitchen

The first time we saw the Naturline jar, we actually thought it was Vaseline - it has a very similar font, and the name is quite similar too. We're not sure if that is intentional, but one thing we can say about this lip balm from Beauty Kitchen is that in terms of what it's made from, it's nothing like Vaseline. This lip balm contains 0% petroleum and is made from 100% natural ingredients, which is really impressive. We like this vegan version of the balm, but there is also a version which contains beeswax. Dr.PAWPAW Natural Lip Balm

Despite sounding like a product you might put on your dog's lips, the lip balm from Dr.PAWPAW is a great product. The PAWPAW is actually a type of papaya and is the moisturising ingredient which can be found in all of the DR.PAWPAW products. This balm is 100% natural, vegan and made from cruelty free ingredients. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

The lip balm from Dr. Organic comes in a variety of delicious flavours including Cherry (pictured) and also has an SPF of 15. This lip balm is made from organic ingredients and contains Shea Butter which provides nourishing properties. Learn more and buy it here - hollandandbarrett.com

Blooms of Britain

Blooms of Britain is a brand new brand in the lip balm space, and we could find very little information about them online. But we picked this lip balm up in our local Holland and Barett and fell in love with it - made using rose oil, the smell of this balm was really nice and it felt really good on our lips, keeping them moisturised for several hours. Bee Natural

As the name suggests, the lip balms from Bee Natural are all natural and use beeswax as the main ingredient, which is great for sensitive skin. We tried the Mango variety (pictured) which had a really nice natural taste to it. The lip balm also contains essential oils like sunflower seed oil and rosemary oil.
