The best low salt stock cubes you can buy in the UK (our top 3)
Stock cubes are a really easy way to add instant flavour to a meal, and we use them all the time to make our meals taste better. But stock cubes can also be packed with salt, and many people don't realise how much additional salt they're adding to their meals when they use stock cubes in their cooking.
Luckily, there are stock cubes out there that you can buy which are low in salt but still work great. Here are our top 3 choices:
Kallo
We love the very low salt chicken stock cubes from the brand for a few reasons - for starters, the obvious point is that they contain just 0.1g of salt per 100ml when made with water, which is virtually nothing. We're also really impressed that these stock cubes contain no MSG, no artificial colours, and they're also gluten free and lactose free. It's also seriously impressive that every ingredient used in these stock cubes is certified organic, and that they're made using natural chicken flavour.
We also love the Very Low Salt Organic Vegetable Stock Cubes from the Kallo brand, and as with the chicken stock cubes from the brand, they contain just 0.1g of salt per 100ml when made with water. These vegetable stock cubes from Kallo are also made without MSG or artificial colours, and with 100% organic ingredients including real garlic and nutmeg.

Knorr
We've only tried zero salt chicken stock cubes from Knorr (pictured), which really impressed us - they're made without artificial colours or preservatives and they're made with lots of natural flavours, including free range chicken, rosemary, and parsley. It also seems that we're not alone in loving these zero salt stock cubes as the product has a very good rating of 4.5 out of 5 from customer reviews on the Knorr website.
Oxo Reduced Salt
The reduced salt chicken stock cubes from Oxo contain 25% less salt than you'll find in the standard chicken Oxo cubes, which means they contain just 0.54g of salt per 100ml when made with water. We really like the chicken flavour of the stock cubes and we're pleasantly surprised to see that these stock cubes are made with real chicken fat.
The reduced salt vegetable Oxo stock cubes contain even less salt than the reduced salt chicken stock cubes from Oxo, with just 0.45g of salt per 100ml when made up with water. The flavour of the reduced salt vegetable Oxo cubes is great and they contain no artificial preservatives.
