The best low fat cream cheese you can buy in the UK (top 5)

Cream cheese is a very versatile and delicious food product which can be used to make everything from cheesecakes to pasta sauces. The only downside to cream cheese is that, like many types of cheese, it tends to be very high in fat.

Luckily, there are lots of great low fat cream cheese products out there which you can buy. We thought it would be useful to round up the best that we've bough and tried, let's get into it:

Lightest Philadelphia

Philadelphia is probably the biggest cream cheese brand in the world, and we definitely think it's worthy of that title because it's a great product. The 'Light' version of Philadelphia is a great low fat version of the popular cream cheese, but we're even more impressed by the 'Lightest' Philadelphia product which is a newer addition to the range. Despite containing just 3% fat, this cream cheese has a lovely creamy texture and, in our opinion, doesn't taste too dissimilar from the standard Philadelphia. Learn more and buy it here - tesco.com

Sainsbury's Lighter Soft Cheese

Sainsbury's is definitely one of the better supermarkets when it comes to dairy products, and this cream cheese from the supermarket brand is a great example of that. It's a lighter version of the standard soft cheese from Sainsbury's, and it contains 40% less fat compared to the standard version. We still found it to be very tasty and to have a nice, thick texture. Learn more and buy it here - sainsburys.co.uk

Tesco 50% less fat cream cheese

We have to admit that we're not always blown away by the dairy products from Tesco, but this low fat cream cheese from the supermarket. It contains 50% less fat compared to the standard cream cheese from Tesco, which is a seriously impressive reduction in fat content. Each 30g serving contains just 3.3g of fat, so it's very low in fat. We love the smooth and creamy texture of the cream cheese and it's definitely a versatile product. Asda light original soft cheese

Just like the low fat cream cheese from Tesco, this cream cheese from Asda contains 50% less fat compared to the standard cream cheese from the supermarket, which is a really impressive saving. Each 30g serving contains 3.3g of fat, so it's exactly the same fat content as the cream cheese from Tesco. We'd say the main difference between the 2 is that this is a bit smoother which might make it more suitable for use as part of a cheesecake. Learn more and buy it here - groceries.asda.com

Co-op light cream cheese

The Co-op is really excellent for food, and we've raved previously about the excellent pizza from this supermarket. The low fat cream cheese from the Co-op is another excellent food product from this supermarket brand - each 33g serving contains 3.6g of fat, so it's very similar in terms of fat content to the other low fat cream cheese that we've included in this guide. But we'd say that this product is creamier than some of the others we tried, making it perfect for use as a dip. Learn more and buy it here - appyshop.co.uk
