Best low carb cereal – 5 tasty & keto friendly options to try

Published by Finn Hayden

We write a lot about cereal because we love eating it. Sure, it's great as a breakfast meal, but it's also great at any time of the day. The issue with most cereals is that they're not very good for you. In fact, we've written about how even cereal like Special K, which is marketed as being healthy, is packed with carbs.

And that seems to be the main issue with most of the cereal out there - they're all very high in carbs, making them difficult to enjoy if you're on a low carb diet, such as the Keto diet.

Luckily though, there is some excellent low carb cereal out there. We thought it would be useful to round up the best that we've tried, let's get into it:

Keto Hana granola

The Keto Hana granola was not only very tasty, but also with just 11g of carbohydrates per 100g of cereal, this is the lowest carb cereal that we could find. Made with coconut oil and a mix of nuts and seeds, the ingredients are simple and don't include any grains, which is why it's so low in carbs. Despite being simple, we loved the taste of this granola and would happily eat it every day to save on carbs. Learn more and buy it here -

SURREAL cereal cocoa & cinnamon

We couldn't decide between the cocoa or cinnamon varieties of the SURREAL cereal, so we decided to include them both - each flavour not only tastes delicious, but is also very low in carbs. The cocoa variety contains fewer than 32g of carbohydrates per 100g of cereal, and the cinnamon variety contains 37g of carbohydrates per 100g. Considering how good this cereal tastes, it's very impressive to have such a low amount of carbs in each box. Made using a blend of soya protein and pea protein, you also get a great protein hit from this cereal too. Learn more and buy it here - hollandandbarrett.com

SURREAL cereal

Grandma Crunch keto cereal salted caramel

Made using a blend of soya protein and pea protein, this cereal is more than 50% protein and is definitely low carb. You'll find just 20.5g of carbohydrates per 100g of cereal, which is very impressive.

The sweet taste of the salted caramel comes from a blend of stevia and erythritol, which keeps the cereal low GI. It also contains coconut oil to elevate fat levels. Learn more and buy it here - grandmacrunch.co.uk

Grandma Crunch keto cereal strawberry

If you'd prefer to have a fruitier low carb cereal, then the strawberry variety of the Grandma Crunch keto cereal is another great option. With only 22.5g of carbohydrates per 100g of cereal, it's very low in carbs and also high in protein with 50g of protein per 100g of cereal. We probably preferred the taste of the Salted Caramel Grandma Crunch cereal ever so slightly, but this was still great. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk
