The best holiday countdown apps you can use in the UK (top 4)

It's the time of year when we're right in the middle of the Christmas holidays and the Summer holidays - as far away from one holiday as we are from the other. During this time, some people like to just get their heads down and hope that the time passes quickly. But for others, having a daily reminder that their next holiday is coming can really motivate them to get through the Spring months.

A great way to have a daily reminder like this is to use a holiday countdown app which you can check to see how soon it is before you'll be lying on the beach with a margarita. There are quite a few apps like this available to download, so we thought it would be useful to round up the best holiday countdown apps that we've tried. Let's get into it:

Ready Set Holiday!

With more than 1 million downloads on the Google Play Store, Ready Set Holiday! is probably the most popular holiday countdown app available to download at the moment. Once you've selected where you're going on holiday and the date, you'll be met with a pretty simple countdown (pictured). It doesn't include minutes and seconds like some of the apps in this list do, but it's nice and simple. There are also plenty of extras in the app to get you even more excited for your holiday, such as information about how warm it is there.

The paper plane image at the top of the screen allows you to instantly share a screenshot of your holiday countdown on platforms such as Facebook or Whatsapp. Overall, we can understand why this is a popular app. Learn more and download it from the Google Play Store here and the App Store here.

VacationCountdown

As you can see from the screenshot we took, the VacationCountdown app gives you a holiday countdown to the second. This might seem a bit over the top to some people, but we think it's quite fun. Again, the free version of the app is pretty simple but does include some interesting extras such as travel-related games that you can play within the app. You can also have up to 3 different countdowns at the same time if you're going on multiple holidays (lucky you).

The free version of the app has some annoying ads, but if you're looking for a holiday countdown app that will give you the time to a second, this is a great option. Learn more and download it from the Google Play Store here and the App Store here.

Holiday Extras CountDown

Despite the name, Holiday CountDown Extras isn't a holiday-specific countdown app, but as you can see you can very easily set a countdown for a holiday. This app also gives you a countdown to the second, and it has a few other nice features too. For example, you can change the background image from the default, so if you're staying at a nice hotel you could add an image of that as the background to get you even more excited. We'd also say that although this app is free, the ads were extremely minimal and we barely even noticed them. Countdown

Another app which isn't specific to holidays but which is still capable of giving you a holiday countdown is the aptly named Countdown app. This gives you the most information of all of the apps we've included in this guide as you can see, from a countdown to the second as well as the actual date of your holiday. Similar to the CountDown app, you can create a custom background and you can also add music, so that when you open the app you'll hear a song to get you excited. You can also choose to have notifications from the app, so it will alert you when your holiday is one month away, one week away etc. Overall, we feel that for a free holiday countdown app, there is a lot you can do with this app. Learn more and download it from the App Store here.
