The best grass fed whey protein you can buy in the UK (Top 7)
If you want to build muscle, protein is essential. But even with a healthy diet, getting enough protein can be difficult, so people often opt for protein powder to help them hit their protein targets. The problem with a lot of protein powder on the market is that it isn't particularly high quality, with the main issue being the quality of the milk used to create the whey. This is why more and more people are opting to buy grass-fed whey protein powder instead of the normal stuff. Plus, it's much nicer knowing that the cows which produced the whey in your powder have a good life grazing outdoors. We wanted to round up the best grass-fed whey protein powder you can buy in the UK, let's get into it:
Solgar Whey to go grass fed chocolate protein powder
This really tasty protein powder is made using whey from pasture-raised New Zealand dairy cows which have never been administered routine antibiotics and which have plenty of room to roam. It's also rBHG free (Some U.S. dairy farms inject this hormone into their cows, read more about that here). It's also gluten free and contains no soya. But what we really love about this protein powder is that it tastes great - the chocolate flavour is delicious, and there is also a hint of vanilla. The Organic Protein Company
Usefully, the name of this brand sort of says everything about them - The Organic Protein Company specialise in organic protein products, including whey protein. The whey protein from The Organic Protein Company is produced using milk which is made from grass-fed cows. In the winter months when they can't be out in the fields, the cows are fed grass in the form of hay, silage, or a mix of the 2 (haylage). We're impressed with how much effort the team has gone to in order to ensure the quality of their whey protein, learn more here - amazon.co.uk

Peak Supps
The grass-fed whey protein powder from Peak Supps is made from the milk produced by cows from Brittany in the South of France. Although the South of France is a beautiful part of the world, the cows need to be moved indoors during the winter months, but are still fed non-GMO foods. Learn more here - amazon.co.uk

Garden of Life
All of the whey protein powder in the Garden of Life range is made with whey from grass-fed Jersey cows that are pasture-raised and free to roam outdoors. Interestingly, this whey protein comes from the USA and is Certified USDA Organic. We're really impressed by the amount of information about the cows on each of the product pages of the Garden of Life website - the cows graze on grass for at least 300 days of the year and when their feed is supplemented during the colder months, it’s only ever with certified organic feed. Lastly, we should also mention that it's great to see a stevia-free version of their whey protein powders for those who like a lightly sweet taste. Learn more here -

ICON Nutrition
Of all the brands included in this list, we think ICON NUTRITION make the least noise about the fact that their whey protein is made using grass-fed cows' milk. But it definitely it, and they should make more noise about that because it is great! According to the ICON NUTRITION website, the whey used to create their protein powders is made using milk from hormone-free Irish cows. Flavours include the usual favourites like chocolate, but also some more interesting flavours like cinnamon vanilla swirl (pictured). Learn more here -

Natural Nutrients
Natural Nutrients are actually one of the only brands in this list to sell a grass-fed whey protein isolate, which is a good option to have for anyone looking for an isolate powder. We also love that you can buy their protein powder in a 30g serving for only £2.49, so you can try a small amount before committing to a larger bag. There isn't a huge amount about the cows used to create the whey which is a shame, but we did like to see that the first product ever created by the brand was a grass-fed whey protein powder. Focus Performance
As well as being made from whey produced by hormone-free, grass-fed cows, the protein powder from Focus Performance is free from artificial colours and flavours which is great to see. Our main criticism is that there isn't a huge amount of information about the cows (where they're from etc.), but aside from that, we're impressed. Learn more about this product here - amazon.co.uk
