The best driving test cancellation apps you can use in the UK (top 4)

Published by Finn Hayden

Booking a driving test can be a real nightmare, with waiting lists often requiring you to wait months before securing a slot for a test. Most people assume that you have no choice but to wait, but driving test cancellation apps allow you to get a slot for a test faster by letting you know when other people have cancelled their driving tests, opening up the slot to you.

There are lots of driving test cancellation apps out there, and it can be a little confusing trying to choose which to download, so we thought it would be useful to round up the best that we've found and tried. Before you can use any of these apps, you'll need to have booked and paid for your driving test as you'll need your test reference number. Let's get into the list:

Driving Test Genie

Driving Test Genie is easily one of the highest rated driving test cancellation finders in the UK at the moment with more than 2000 5 star reviews over on the Apple App Store and more than 1000 5 star reviews on Google Play store. We also appreciate that, unlike many of the other apps we've included in this list, Genie has an active Trustpilot page with more than 1k reviews.  We found the app to be very straightforward to use, and we like that rather than sending notifications, Genie will actually send you a text message, which means as soon as a slot is available you can react very quickly. If you want to take an earlier test then all you have to do is reply to the text message - simple. You can search for test dates at up to 5 different centres at the same time, and the support team responds very quickly to any issues. Overall, we're super impressed with this driving test cancellation app, and for a one-off payment of £14.99 that covers you until you pass your test, it's excellent value. Learn more (and pay £14.99 instead of the usual £17.99) here - drivingtestgenie.co.uk

Driving Test Cancellations NOW

With a 4.9 out of 5 rating from more than 1,400 users, Driving Test Cancellations NOW is one of the most popular apps in this category and has helped thousands of people to find earlier driving tests. We found the app to be very straightforward to use, with an automatic search function which will look for test dates that are both earlier and later than the date you're booked for. You can book everything within the app, either automatically or manually if you wish to choose a specific time. The app will cost you a one-off payment of £17.99, which is very reasonable given how much money and time you can save. Learn more and download it here for iOS and Android.

Testi

In terms of a driving cancellation app which allows you to very quickly sign up and get started, we think Testi was definitely one of the best we tried. As we mentioned in our full review of the app, with just the free version we immediately had a list of upcoming test dates with specific times, all at the test centre of our choice.
It was by far the app that provided the most information within the free version. With the premium version of Testi, you get notifications when new test slots are available, and you can add 3 other test centres. You'll also get totally unlimited use of the app until you pass. We were very impressed by Testi, learn more and download it from the App Store here and Google Play here.

Driving Test Cancellations App

The Driving Test Cancellations App took about 5 minutes to verify our details so it wasn't as quick as Testi, but once our details had been verified we found the app to be quite useful. You can check the app daily and it will list the available dates at the centre you've booked at, but automatic notifications and bookings are reserved for the premium version of the app which costs £5.99 per week.

That price makes this app the most expensive of all the driving test cancellation apps we tried, but we do think the premium version is impressive, with the ability to check up to 5 different test centres for slots, as well as sms messages when a slot is available. Learn more and download the app on the App Store here.

Driving Test Cancellations 4 All

This app has almost 5000 reviews on Reviews.co.uk, which is seriously impressive. Once you download the Driving Test Cancellations 4 All and pay the £18, you'll get an unlimited amount of notifications about cancelled driving tests in your area and at your chosen test centres. The app carries out an automatic search thousands of times per day to make sure that it never misses a slot. We think the £18 is quite reasonable, but there is also a free trial you can use for 3 days to see how the app works. Download it on the App store here.
