The best CBD creams and balms you can buy – 8 different options to try if you want to apply CBD topically

Published by Finn Hayden

We've written about CBD a number of times on our website, but up until recently we'd only really tried CBD oils and CBD gummies.

When we eventually got our hands on some CBD cream and balm, we were actually pretty impressed by what we experienced when we applied CBD topically for a change. After testing a number of different CBD creams and balms (read more about how we tested the products here), we decided to publish a guide rounding up what we believe to be the best CBD creams and balms you can buy in the UK right now. Let's get into it:

CBDiablo Cooling Gel CBD Balm

We've featured CBDiablo a few times on our site, and it's safe to say that we're fans of their CBD products. The cooling gel balm from this brand comes in a pump bottle and is a broad spectrum product, which means it contains no THC but contains some additional healthy plant compounds alongside the CBD in each bottle (500mg). It's also free from parabens, fragrances, and dyes. Overall, we're impressed and think you will be too. Learn more and buy it here for £30 - cbdiablo.co.uk

CBDLife Muscle Balm (Refresh & Relax)

The CBD life muscle balm is a great, value-for-money, balm for both sports and relaxation.

The company offer two different blends using different essential oils. The relax has relaxing notes of lavender and Ylang Ylang and the Refresh is infused with Peppermint and Eucalyptus. You can really feel the cooling power of that.

The main ingredients of the balms is: Hemp Extract, Coconut Oil, Shea butter, Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E, Essential Oils

FourFive CBD muscle balm (with menthol)

The team at FourFive has recently revamped all of their products with additional ingredients to make them even more effective, and they've given their CBD balm this treatment too - by adding menthol, the balm now has a lovely scent and very effective cooling sensation upon application. We'd definitely say this is more of a balm than a cream in the sense that it is quite thick, but a small amount goes a long way and it gets absorbed really easily. We're big fans of this CBD balm and take it with us to the gym, as it's small enough to pop into our pocket. The only slight downside would be the price, as £28 for a 300mg CBD balm is quite pricey, but we do have to admit it's an awesome product. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

Kloris Luxury CBD Balm

Kloris is one of the leading brands in the world of CBD at the moment, and it's their CBD balms which are flying off the shelves. We've seen them stocked in places like Boots recently. This Superior Luxury CBD Balm that we tried from Kloris was really impressive - with 66mg of CBD per jar it doesn't contain a huge amount of CBD, but it's very high concentration and feels like a luxury product. The balm is made from 100% natural ingredients including Coconut Oil and Mango Seed Butter. We liked that it was absorbed quickly by our skin and left no residue behind. We actually enjoyed using this on the sensitive area around our eyes. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

CannabiGold Moisturizing Balm

We found this CannabiGold Moisturizing Balm in our local Holland & Barrett, so we felt like we had to give it a shot. Of all the CBD balms and creams we tried, this one definitely felt the most like the sort of cream we'd use normally, but the main downside was the low CBD content. Only 50mg per bottle isn't exactly a huge amount, especially considering that the Kloris jar contains just as much CBD in a jar which is a 5th of the size of this bottle from Cannabigold. But we do think this balm is excellent for anyone looking for a simple moisturising cream, and for anyone who doesn't want to consume too much CBD. Learn more and buy it here - hollandandbarrett.com

Holland & Barrett CBD Day Cream

The CBD Day Cream from Holland & Barrett is quite a simple product, but that's exactly why we like it - if you're looking for a moisturising cream which you can apply every day, this is a great choice. We'll be the first to say that some of the own-brand CBD products from Holland & Barrett aren't all that good, but we actually think the CBD Day Cream they produce is very good. It's also very affordable at just £15 per jar. Learn more and buy it here - hollandandbarrett.com

Grass & Co. (Ease and Rest CBD balms)

Grass & Co is another of the CBD brands that we first found in Holland & Barrett (can you tell that we love visiting those shops?) and we tried both of the topical products in the Grass & Co range - the Ease CBD muscle balm ad the Rest CBD body balm. These are obviously a little bit different in terms of the makeup of ingredients, but they both contain 300mg of CBD and they're both designed to relax your muscles, so they are comparable. The Rest balm is fragranced with Geranium, Rosemary, and Frankincense, which smells really lovely and definitely helps you to unwind in the evenings. The muscle balm is fragranced with Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, so rather than relaxing it gives you a bit more of a boost. They're both excellent balms for different purposes, and you can buy either of them for less than £40. Learn more and buy them here - amazon.co.uk

Cannaray Muscle Balm (250mg)

Cannaray is a brand that is growing hugely in popularity mainly due to a lucrative sponsorship deal with Claudia Winkleman, but we do have to admit that we think their CBD products are good, especially the balms. We tried the 250mg CBD Muscle Balm from Cannaray which is citrus scented, and we definitely felt a benefit from using it over a few days after the gym. We also loved the scent which had a Citrus tang, but wasn't overpowering. You can buy this balm from Tesco too, which is very convenient. Learn more and buy it here - tesco.com

How did we test these CBD creams?

We tried a lot of CBD creams and balms for this guide, and we tested each product based on a number of factors. For starters, we spot-tested each product to ensure that it was safe on our skin and wouldn't cause any adverse reactions. We also made sure that the CBD content of the product as shown on the label matched what the cannabinoid reports of reach product stated. We tried a number of CBD creams which we didn't feel were worthy of a place in this guide.
