4 cash back apps that’ll help you save pennies (& pounds)

Published by Finn Hayden

Prices are rising everywhere at the moment, and we're all looking for ways to save a few pennies (or pounds). For many of us, you'd think that would mean cutting back on spending and buying less of the things we like. But it's great when you can continue to buy the things you like and still save money.

This is why cash back apps are so great - you can buy the things that you'd usually buy online, and actually get money back on your purchases. There are lots of apps out there which claim to help you get cash back on your purchases, so we thought it would be useful to round up the best cash back apps you can download, let's get into it:

TopCashback

TopCashback is one of the more popular cash back apps we tried for this guide, and we've often seen adverts for this app on television and elsewhere. We're not surprised by the popularity of this app at all - it's very easy to use and has some great cash back offers. You need to create an account before you can use the app, but it's free to create an account and only takes a few minutes. The app lists more than 5,000 retailers which you can get cash back from, and makes it really simple to use - all you have to do is find the retailer that you're looking to buy from within the app, then click on the 'get cashback now' button, and you'll be redirected to the retailer website. When you make a purchase via the website, the money will land in your TopCashback account. When you want to withdraw your saved money from the TopCashback app you simply select the 'Payout' button and the money can be transferred to your bank account.
The amount of cash back that you get will receive varies depending on what retailer you're buying from, but it's typically at least 5% which is very impressive. Learn more and download it here from the Google Play Store and here from the Apple App Store.

Quidco

Quidco is another popular cash back app which you might have already heard of, but it has some interesting differences compared to many of the other apps we've included in this guide. For starters, you don't need an account to browse the retailers which offer cash back via Quidco, which means you can download the app and start looking for retailers immediately. However, if you do decide that you want to use Quidco to start saving money then you'll need to create an account, which is quick and free to do. Quidco claims to have more than 4,500 brands listed that you can get cash back from, and this varies from streaming services like Disney+ to fashion brands like Calvin Klein. There is no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn from the app, and you can withdraw to a bank account or a Paypal account. Learn more and download it here from the Google Play Store and here from the Apple App Store.

Cheddar

.Cheddar is a lesser-known cash back app, but it's quickly growing in popularity due to how excellent it is. It also includes some major brands that you can spend money with and get cash back from, including Sports Direct and Just Eat. All you have to do is link your bank account to the app, and once you've earned some cash back you can instantly withdraw the money to your bank account. Cheddar is not just for online purchase either - if you like your debit or credit card to the app then you can actually earn cash back at the places you shop at while you're out and about. This includes major supermarkets such as Tesco. It's a really impressive app and we should also mention that the app is a delight to use and very easy to navigate.

JamDoughnut

JamDoughnut is another cash back app which isn't quite a household name yet but which is becoming really popular, and we're very impressed by the 'Excellent' rating on Trustpilot. At the moment, the app only lists just over 200 retailers that you can get cash back from, but it includes some really big names, including Sainsbury's, Adidas, and H&M. It works a little bit differently from the other cash back apps that we've included in this guide as it requires you to buy a gift card from the brand that you want to save money on, and then make your purchase using the gift card. But this is really easy to do and actually works really well - you get 100 points in the app for every £1 you spend, and once you hit 1000 points, you can withdraw your savings to your bank account. There are customers in the Trustpilot reviews who have used this app to save big money on their holidays, so it clearly works really well. Learn more and download it here from the Google Play Store and here from the Apple App Store.
