Best books about yoga (Our favourites)
Yoga is simple to get started with but to truly master the practice you need many years of experience. Although we think it's great when people incorporate small amounts of yoga into their lives to try and improve their wellbeing, we also love when people want to take their Yoga practice to the next level.
In our opinion, reading an excellent book about yoga is one of the best ways to do this. We've rounded up a selection of our favourite books from yoga masters.
Yoga Rising by Melanie C. Klein - best for a variety of authoritative voices collated by an expert
Melanie C. Klein has made it her mission to help women feel empowered since the early 90s, and has written several books about yoga and the positive impact that it can have on one's life. The pick of the bunch in our opinion is Yoga Rising: 30 Empowering Stories from Yoga Renegades for Every Body, a book that includes not only advice from Melanie but also from other experts within the world of Yoga (30 contributors), all sharing stories about yoga and exploring how yoga intersects with other aspects of life. If you're looking for a book that'll inspire you take your yoga practice to the next level, look no further.

Yoga to Support Immunity - best for understanding the benefits of yoga
Often nothing will motivate us more to continue something than reminding ourselves of the benefits of the practice, and that's why we think it is a great idea to read Yoga to Support Immunity: Mind, Body, Breathing Guide to Whole Health by Melanie Salvatore-August. This book lays out in simple terms the benefits of yoga and explains how yoga promotes optimal health. The book also includes easy to follow poses that can be done at home to boost the immune system.

Hidden: young single cancer by Annabel Chown- best for an inspirational story that reminds us why we do yoga
The first 2 books in our list were guides, but this book is different in that it outlines the incredible and inspiring story of a prominent figure in the yoga community. Annabel Chown found out she had breast cancer 6 months after she started practicing yoga. The stress of the diagnosis and treatments took its toll on Annabel's life as you can imagine, but yoga remained a constant in her life and helped her get through this period. What we love about Hidden: young single cancer is that it reminds us why we do yoga - not just so we can do cool poses and impress our friends, but so we can centre ourselves and promote wellbeing and peace within ourselves. It's a powerful read and we highly recommend the book.
