The best balsamic vinegar that you can buy in the UK (top 6)

Balsamic vinegar is the type of thing which is often served at restaurants but people rarely use at home, and we think part of the reason is that people are scared to buy it because they don't think it'll taste as good at home. But there are actually lots of options when it comes to excellent balsamic vinegar, and most of it can likely be bought in your local supermarket. We wanted to round up the best balsamic vinegar that you can buy in the UK, let's get into it:

This balsamic vinegar from Mazzetti is matured in wooden barrels which gives it a lovely oaky taste. Mazzetti is a family business based in Italy and we think the passion that this family has for food is really evident when you try this balsamic vinegar - it has a rich sweet and sour taste and goes perfectly paired with a good EVOO. The yellow label product from Mazzetti is actually a bit lighter than some of the other balsamic vinegar in the Mazzetti range, which makes it ideally suited for dressings and for pairing with a good olive oil bread dip. Waitrose Duchy Organic

Regular readers of our guides won't be surprised to see Waitrose popping up in this guide, because we're so often impressed by how good the food products are from this supermarket chain. The Waitrose Duchy Organic balsamic vinegar is a seriously good product - made in Italy, it has a lovely sweet taste with a real tang, and of course, everything used to make this balsamic vinegar is 100% organic. We also think that £3 for a bottle of this balsamic vinegar is a real bargain. Learn more and buy it here -

Similar to Waitrose, we often include Co-op products in our food guides because the supermarket has a great range of food products, and we think the balsamic vinegar from the Co-op is a great example of this. It's made in the Modena region of Italy as all authentic balsamic vinegar should be, and it has a great tangy taste. Learn more and buy it here -

Clearspring Organic Balsamic Vinegar

It's actually very hard to find organic balsamic vinegar, which is why we were delighted to stumble across the Clearspring balsamic vinegar in our local health shop - made by the Mengazzoli family in Modena using organic Trebbiano grapes, the family uses a centuries-old process to turn the grapes into balsamic vinegar. The grapes are simmered to an essence and then blended with a very fine wine vinegard, and then left to age in wooden kegs. It contains no added alcohol and no preservatives are added, and we think this balsamic vinegar has a complex and delicious taste. Learn more and buy it here -
