Published by Finn Hayden

Most people will only ever consume vinegar on their chips, but some types of vinegar are packed with goodness and are consumed daily by people. Apple cider vinegar is a good example of a healthy vinegar which is very popular with people who are conscious about their health.

There are lots of options when it comes to apple cider vinegar that you can buy in the UK, so we thought it would be useful to round up the best that you can buy. Let's get into it:

The best apple cider vinegar you can buy: a quick overview

Raw Vibrant Living

It’s rare to see an apple cider vinegar with a great taste award, but that’s exactly what this product from Raw Vibrant Living has. And there’s no denying that compared to many of the other Apple cider vinegars that we tried for this guide, this ACV from raw vibrant living has a lovely taste - it still has the tangy taste you’d expect of ACV, but it’s also undercut with a lovely sweetness. This ACV is completely unpasteurised and organic, and it comes with the Mother. Learn more and buy it here - ocado.com

Biona

We feature the Biona brand frequently across our guides because the brand makes some great organic products, including some very tasty high protein bread. The Apple cider vinegar from Biona is also 100% organic and also a very high quality product - made using raw, unfiltered vinegar and aged before it is bottled, this ACV has a rich aroma and taste, and it has Mother. This ACV also won a Great Taste award in 2023. Learn more and buy it here - biona.co.uk

Willy's

We included the ACV drink from the Willy's brand in our kombucha guide, but the brand is probably best-known for making straightforward apple cider vinegar. Made using apples from a 300 year old orchard in Herefordshire, this ACV is totally pure and raw, with only organic apples used to make it. It has quite a unique taste which we'd describe as a bit sweeter compared to many of the other apple cider vinegars that we tried for this guide, and it seems that the reason for this is that the Willy's team use a blend of 48 different varieties of apple to make the apple cider vinegar. Overall, it's a really impressive product, and you can buy varieties of this ACV which include additional healthy ingredients such as turmeric. Learn more and buy it here - amazon.co.uk

OSU

Made in Japan, this apple cider vinegar from OSU is 100% unfiltered, unpasteurised and contains “The Mother" in every bottle. This brand does thing a little differently from most of the other ACV brands that we've looked at, because they actually blend the apple cider vinegar with additional apple juice. This makes the taste much more palatable, and also means the ACV from OSU is a bit cheaper. You can buy a standard apple variety, but there is also a really tasty variety which has been blended with blueberry and pomegranate. Learn more and buy it here - tesco.com

Bragg

Bragg is one of the biggest apple cider vinegar brands in the UK, despite not having particularly fancy packaging or branding. But this is because the company clearly prefers to focus on what is inside the bottle rather than on the label - made using organic apples, this ACV is totally raw and unfiltered. The Bragg company has actually been around since 1912, and the way the company makes apple cider vinegar hasn't really changed at all. Learn more and buy it here - hollandandbarrett.com
