The best air fresheners for the home you can buy in the UK (top 5)
Despite our best efforts to keep our homes smelling great, there are some smells which just seem to linger no matter how much cleaning we do. This is why air fresheners are so useful - with a few sprays, you can instantly make your home smell better without needing to do any sort of deep cleaning.
There are lots of air fresheners out there which claim to make your home smell great, but we'd say that most of them aren't particularly good. Luckily though, there are some excellent air fresheners out there, and we thought it would be useful to round up the best that you can buy. Let's get into it:
Neutradol

Oust
Oust is another air freshener which works by actually eliminating odours rather than just masking them. The formula kills the bacteria which cause bad smells, and according to the manufacturers the formula is especially effective at dealing with strong odours such as pet odours and kitchen odours, but Oust can be used anywhere in the home. We like that all of the ingredients in Oust are listed on the SC Johnson website for complete clarity. There are a few different varieties of the Oust spray but we'd definitely say that our favourite is the Outdoor Fresh scent, which smells lovely and not too artificial. Febreze
All of the Febreze air fresheners have Odourclear Technology, which was developed by the team at Procter & Gamble. This technology makes Febreze another spray which actually eliminates odours rather than just masking the bad smell. Another great thing about Febreze which is actually quite a bit different from other air fresheners that we've included is that Febreze uses a 100% natural propellant, made using Nitrogen. We'd actually say that of all the air fresheners we tried for this guide, Febreze has the nicest range of scents to choose from. The 'Fresh Linen' scent is a classic, but we love the new Lenor scents too (pictured). Learn more and buy it here - groceries.morrisons.com

Glade
The Glade air fresheners use a technology known as TrueScent which actually kills the bacteria that cause bad scents, and we're very impressed by how effective it is. Glade is actually an SC Johnson brand just like Oust, so Glade uses a similar technology to Oust. The one thing that we noticed about the Glade air fresheners is that the scents are very powerful, and this is because the fragrances instantly infuse the air when the freshener is sprayed. There are lots of Glade scents to choose from, but we really like the Sandalwood and Jasmine scent. Learn more and buy it here - ocado.com

Air Wick Freshmatic
Unlike all of the other air fresheners that we've included in this guide, the Air Wick Freshmatic is 100% automatic - this means it works 24/7 without the need to spray it manually. We love this because it means that the odours are being tackled before they get a chance to really spread around the home. This is also great for families with pets, as pets will often cause bad odours during the night and this air freshener will make sure those bad odours are dealt with before they get a chance to spread around your home. The fragrance used within this air freshener is actually from natural essential oils, so the scent has a very natural and pleasant smell to it. Learn more and buy it here - tesco.com
