Aldi just massively upped their Skyr game

Published by Finn Hayden

I love eating Skyr, which is why I write about it so much. Seriously, it's high in protein, fat free, and tastes really good, what's not to like?

I've never really had a "go-to" Skyr brand because I like trying different brands, but I have to say that Aldi is quickly becoming my favourite place to head to when I want to stock up on Skyr. This is especially true in light of the recent changes made to the Aldi Skyr range.

I have to admit, when I saw the new packaging and flavours of Skyr on the Aldi shelves, my heart was in my mouth a little bit. I quickly checked the ingredients and nutritional data to make sure they hadn't messed with anything too much, and to my relief, they haven't.

Sidenote - you won't catch me writing about Lidl Skyr, despite Lidl being excellent for high protein products, because many of the flavoured varieties of Skyr at Lidl are filled with too many rubbish ingredients. For example, the strawberry variety contains Xanthan Gum and Aspartame, why do that to me, Lidl?

Luckily, the Aldi flavoured Skyr contains no rubbish like that:

I'd rather have a bit of sugar than artificial sweetener

The strawberry flavour was already part of the Aldi skyr range, but the vanilla flavour is new, and wow that's good.

And at £1.25 per 450g pot, I think Aldi just officially became my go-to place for Skyr.

Lidl, you need to step up your game!
