6 lovely low carb lagers you can buy in the UK
I love beer, but I'm not a very adventurous beer drinker - give me a lager and I'm happy. As an avid lager drinker, I'm always on the lookout for lagers that won't put as much timber on my gut, so I can feel a bit less guilty about having a beer.
I've worked my way through a number of low calorie lagers, but I've recently decided to try a keto diet, which means switching from counting calories to counting carbs. Luckily, there is a surprisingly large number of low carb lagers available to buy in the UK. I've now tried loads of them, and here are the 6 best I've tried:
LEANN LAGER - 0.2g carbs per 100ml
LEANN LAGER has pretty much the same amount of carbs as Tennent's Light, but I'd say it tastes much nicer. It's brewed in Scotland using Scottish hops and for me, it's definitely one of the nicest-tasting low carb lagers I've tried. Learn more and buy it here - leanlager.co.uk

Tennent's Light - 0.2g of carbs per 100ml
I'm putting Tennent's Light as the number one low carb lager I've tried not necessarily because it's the nicest tasting (although it's actually quite enjoyable with a wedge of lime), but because it is just incredibly low in carbs - at just 0.2g of carbs per 100ml, it's virtually carb free, making it an excellent choice for anyone following a keto diet. Prime Time Lager - 1.2g carbs per 100ml
The Prime Time Lager contains 1.2g of carbs per 100ml (roughly 4g carbs per 330ml can), which isn't very low carb but what makes up for it is the fact that this lager is 4.2% alcohol, which is stronger than any other low carb lager that I tried for this guide. The taste is pretty good too, and it has a Great Taste award too. I published a full review of the Prime Time Lager and IPA here, but you can learn more and buy this lager here - waitrose.com

Skinny Lager - 0.9g carbs per 100ml
Skinny lager is sort of my "safe bet" when it comes to a low carb lager - if I'm planning on drinking more than a couple of beers then I'd go for a crate of Skinny Lager. These contain under 1g of carbs per 100ml and are very drinkable, learn more and buy it here - ocado.com

Lowrise Lager - 0.5g carbs per 100ml
Some of the low carb lagers that I've tried have tasted a bit bland - I certainly can't accuse this Lowrise Lager of that. I have to admit, the taste isn't totally my vibe, but one thing that this lager definitely has going for it is that it's very low in carbs, with just 0.5g carbs per 100ml. Genius craft lager - 2.2g carbs per 100ml
At 2.2g of carbs per 100ml, the Genius lager contains more than double the carbs of some of the other beers in this list, but it's still lower than most of what you'll find at the pub. I really like the taste and think it's worth the slightly higher number of carbs unless I'm being really strict on my keto diet, learn more and buy it here - geniusbrewing.com

As you can see, we've got some great options for low carb lagers here in the UK, so even if you're on a keto diet you can still enjoy a beer! If you've got a favourite from the lagers I've included in this guide (or one I haven't mentioned), let me know in the comments!
