4 relaxing body washes you can use to help you sleep

Published by Finn Hayden

Sleep is so important, and we're always happy to try new things which might improve our sleep. We've tried lots of products over the years which are supposed to help with sleep - some with great success, others less so.

When we heard of the idea of sleep body wash, we were skeptical - it seemed unlikely to us that using a body wash in the shower or bath could help you sleep. But having tried a few different sleep body washes, we're now happy to report that it definitely helps us wind down at the end of the day and get ready for bed.

We've tried a number of sleep body washes for this guide, and we've whittled it down to the best 4 that we've tried. Let's get into it:

The Body Shop Sleep

The Body Shop has a wide range of products designed to help you get to sleep, and the aptly named Sleep body wash is definitely one of the best products that we've tried from the range. Suitable for use on both your body and for your hair, the Sleep body wash is a versatile product that we've been really impressed with since we started using it. The product contains 100% natural lavender oil, as well as natural vetiver oil and organic olive oil from Italy. Vetiver isn't an oil that we were familiar with, but we looked at a 2010 study suggesting that this oil can really help with sleep and anxiety. Learn more and buy it here -

Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Melting Shower Cream

We've previously been very impressed by the pillow spray from Feather & Down, and this shower cream is also excellent. It's made with a lot of the same relaxing ingredients that you'll find in the pillow spray, including lavender and chamomile essential oils. This body wash feels lovely on the skin and the scent is very relaxing. The product is made using vegan ingredients which are cruelty-free, and natural extracts. Learn more and buy it here -

Tisserand Sleep Better & Total De-stress

Tisserand is another brand that we included in our pillow spray guide, and this brand had 2 sleep body washes that we loved - the Sleep Better body wash and the Total De-stress body wash. Sleep Better is made using a blend of 3 different essential oils - Jasmine, Sandalwood, and Lavender. The scent is so calming and we love the feel of it on our skin. The Total De-stress body wash contains Geranium, Orange, and Nutmeg, and has a much sweeter scent than the Sleep Better body wash, but still helps us to feel ready for bed. It's also worth nothing that the Total De-stress body wash seems to be a bit more popular than the Sleep Better body wash, as the latter has more reviews on the Tisserand website. SenSpa Relaxing Body Wash

What's really impressive about this body wash from SenSpa is that it's made using 97% natural ingredients, and it's free from Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Mineral Oil. Many of the natural ingredients in this body wash are organic too, including lavender, starflower, and jasmine extract. Alongside those extracts, you'll find bergamot, patchouli, and geranium essential oils, and we think this sleep body wash had the best scent of any that we tried. Learn more and buy it here -
